Belize fall 4-1 to Guatemala in U-15 Uncaf Boys Championship opener in Costa Rica

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Under-15 Belize Boys National Team (BBNT) fell 4-1 to Guatemala in the opening game of the 2023 Under-15 Central American Football Union (Uncaf) Boys Championship on Friday in Costa Rica.

Marlon Meza Jr scored Belize’s only goal in the match played at Liga Deportiva Alajuelense’s High Performance Center in Alajuela, just outside San José.

The BBNT arrived in San José, Costa Rica, late Wednesday night and did a light training at the venue on Thursday before today’s game.

Belize is in Group B along with Honduras, Panama, and Guatemala. Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, and invited guests Puerto Rico are playing in Group A.

In the second game, Belize face Honduras on Sunday, April 30 at 3:00 pm and close group play against Panama at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 2.

The BBNT will play a final ranking game on Thursday, May 4.
