By Rubén Morales Iglesias: National Primary School Basketball Championships are ongoing at the Russel ‘Chiste’ Garcia Auditorium & Ecumenical High School in Dangriga on Friday, April 28.

Organized by the National Sports Council under the Ministry of Sports, the championships feature both the boys’ and girls’ champions from all the districts.

In the Boys Championships, Division A is made up of Stann Creek’s Sacred Heart, Cayo’s United Evergreen Belize, Corozal’s Corozal Methodist in Group A and Toledo’s St. Peter Claver, Belize District’s St John Vianney, and Orange Walk’s Louisiana Government School in Group B.

In the Girls Championships, Division A features St. Alphonsus RC of Stann Creek, Santa Elena Primary from Cayo, and St. Francis Xavier of Corozal. Division B comprises Toledo’s St Peter Claver, Belize District’s The Island Academy, and Orange Walk’s Louisiana Govt.

The groups are playing round robins after which the top two qualify for the semifinals which will produce the finalists.
