By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean Henry Li riding for Rolling Shattaz-BZ Boyz captured 3rd place in the 69-mile Elite Cedral Cycling Race (Clásica Ciclística de El Cedral) in Cozumel, Mexico on Sunday, April 30.
The Cedral race featured riders from Mexico, Belize, Spain, Brazil, and Guatemala.
“Made the front split about 10 miles into the race not knowing it would be the final break. 4 riders: 3 Mexicans + Myself. Played my cards but didn’t play them right,” Li said after the Mexico race.
“Thanks to the entire ROLLING SHATTAZ squad, especially Gary Bennett for making this trip possible.
Li said the Cozumel Cedral race is the first of three international events in his calendar.

Mexican José Alfredo Aguirre of Team Zorros was the winner of the race followed by Mexican rider Alan Carrillo of Cozumel’s Team Freedom.
Belizean Shawn Codd of Team G-Flow finished fourth. His teammate Kevin Gentle took seventh place. G-Flow’s Goran Gabourel and 501 Valvoline Brandon Cattouse finished in the Top 15.
Ray Cattouse was second in the Masters and Kaya Cattouse won the Women’s Elite race. In the Masters A, Alan Auil was fifth.
Belizean teams Westrac, SPD, and M&M Engineering also competed in the Cozumel race.
Gons Racing Club attempted to livestream the race but couldn’t do it due to a lack of signal in the area where the race was held.
