Belize Weather: Heat alert returns as temperatures hit 97 degrees in interior

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The National Meteorological Service forecasts sunny skies with cloudy spells and hazy conditions, and partly cloudy and hazy skies tonight. Isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible over the extreme south this morning and expected over inland areas this afternoon or evening.

High temperatures peak at 89 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 97 degrees in the interior and 88 degrees in the hills. Tonight’s low temperatures will be 80 degrees along the coast, 72 degrees inland and 68 degrees in the hills. A heat alert is in effect and residents of inland areas especially are advised to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities as much as possible especially during the afternoon.

Winds are easterly to southeasterly at 10 to 20 knots and sea state is choppy.

Tides will be high at 8:15 this morning and 9:12 this evening and low at 3:07 this afternoon. The sun sets at 6:13 this evening and rises at 5:25 Thursday morning.

Current weather conditions are expected to continue through Thursday.
