Belmopan Aggregates and Hardware donates over $4,000 worth of vegetable seeds to Community Policing 

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today the Community Policing Unit received a donation of over $4,000 worth of vegetable seeds from Belmopan Aggregates and Hardware.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Howell Gillett says that the seeds will be distributed to schools across the country to complement their garden in school programs and by extension their feeding programs.

Gillett says that this initiative promotes healthy eating, encourage physical activity, foster community engagement and promotes farm-to-table agriculture.

“Growing vegetables can also help students learn about environmental sustainability and the importance of protecting natural resources. By teaching them about the importance of composting, water conservation, and other sustainable practices, students can become more environmentally conscious and engaged,” Gillett stated.

Gillett says that law enforcement agencies can make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of students and also build  stronger relationships with our communities.
