By Aaron Humes: An unoccupied, dilapidated wooden bungalow house burned by fire this morning on Olivera Street in the Lake Independence area near the riverside.
According to police, the 20 by 30-foot structure caught fire around 11:15 a.m. It was owned by the late Daniel Hughes and his nephew Ruben told them no one was living in it, but that young men from the surrounding neighbourhood would “hang out” there. There was no one in the area at the time of the fire.
Fire Service personnel put out the flames and an investigation is underway by both Police and Fire Service.
