Common law wife of man charged with gang affiliation claims police is targeting him

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City resident, 35-year-old Ronlee Petillo, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison this week, following a charge of gang affiliation.

Petillo was charged with being a member of a gang, specifically the George Street Gang (GSG), while already out on bail for a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Petillo pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded until July 3. Petillo’s arrest represents one of several arrests made against accused gang affiliates this week.

Petillo was shot on April 15. He was shot twice, once to the back of his neck, and once to the left shoulder area, and sustained a graze over his left eye. His common-law wife Kishanna Bodden said police have been to their home every day since Petillo discharged himself from the hospital.

No arrests have been made in relation to Petillo’s shooting.
