Man remanded to prison until next month for threatening a woman with a gun

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being charged with threatening a woman with a gun.

Twenty-year-old Giovanni Thomas Lambey appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with a single count of aggravated assault with a firearm against the 31-year-old alleged victim.

The woman alleges that she was on Caesar Ridge Road in Belize City when the man, who she identified as Lambeym rode past on a bicycle and stopped a few feet away from her. She further alleged that he accused her of disrespecting him and pulled the gun, threatening to shoot her in the face in front of police officers.

In court, he pleaded not guilty to the charge, but since the alleged offense was committed with a firearm, bail could not be granted at the Magistrate level and he was remanded until June 29.

Lambey was unrepresented in court.
