By Breaking Belize News Staff: A resident of Corozalito Village Belize District, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison for breaking into a man’s home and stealing his shotgun.
Thirty-three-year-old Albert Reid appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with a single count of burglary. He stands accused of breaking into a house at 31 1/2 Miles on the old Northern Highway and stealing a 12-gauge pump-action shot-gun and five 12-gauge shotgun cartridges.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge but since the offense involves a firearm he could not be granted bail at the magistrate level and was remanded until June 22.
The 63-year-old home owner reported to police that the weapon had been stolen from his home on April 25. Reid was allegedly seen hiding the shotgun in Santana Village later that day, and the weapon was recovered from inside someone’s yard.
