By Breaking Belize News Staff: A resident of Maskall Village is out on bail after being charged with attacking his common-law-wife with a knife.

The accused, 36-year-old Jeremiah Rivera, initially pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated assault in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, however, when the facts of the case were read to him he did not agree with what was being said.

He then changed his plea to not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $2,000 plus one surety of the same amount which he met. He is due back in court on July 5.

The victim told police that they were having a domestic dispute and he attacked her in a jealous rage.
