Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation announces Felicia Cruz as new Director of Blue Economy

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation (MBECA) on Monday announced Felicia Cruz as the new Director of Blue Economy.

MBECA said Cruz has nearly 15 years of experience at the Belize Fisheries Department, where she held various roles such as the Belize High Seas Fisheries Officer, Public Education and Outreach Officer, and Policy and Planning Officer. She has been involved in key programs and projects that enhanced the Department’s institutional and management capacity.

The Ministry said she has performed excellently at the senior management level and contributed to the Fisheries Department’s performance through her portfolios in science and research, policy and planning, inter-departmental coordination, and resource mobilization.

Cruz is one of the female leaders in fisheries management and has demonstrated her ability to coordinate, identify solutions and build consensus. MBECA said it is confident that Cruz will facilitate the coordination and implementation of policies and framework that support a thriving Blue Economy.

Cruz holds a Master of Science in Marine Science and Resource Management from the National Taiwan Ocean University and various training credentials in ocean-related disciplines. She also participated in a Blue Economy Capacity Building Workshop facilitated by the Embassy of Taiwan.
