Thieves removed village’s Heritage Bank ATM machine overnight

By Aaron Humes: Overnight, thieves broke into Helen Wu Store in Burrell Boom, Belize District and pried out the Heritage Bank automated teller machine (ATM), and removed it from the store.

Assistant Commissioner of Police and officer commanding Eastern Division Hilberto Romero offered these details: “We are reviewing footage and the investigation into this matter continues…[The burglars] gained entry by forcing open the front door, thereafter they made their way into the area where the ATM machine was located and they pried it out.”

Police could not say how much money was in the machine.

This is the second such burglary following a Belize Bank ATM being looted in San Roman, Corozal earlier this year; at this time there is no link between the two.
