15 Belizean farmers visit Peten, Guatemala to look at livestock breeding, nutrition, and agro-processing methods

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: A group of 15 Belizean dairy farmers from Shipyard and Spanish Lookout are in Petén, Guatemala on a two-day exchange visit to learn from their counterparts.

The visit is a result of a previous meeting between livestock experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Petén, Guatemala, (MAGA Petén), Western Dairies, and the Belize Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE).

“The objective is to exchange ideas, technology and innovation in the area of breeding (genetics) nutrition, agro-processing, and animal husbandry,” MAFSE said.

This visit is part of the cooperation agreement signed in 2022 by MAFSE Minister Jose Mai from Belize and MAGA Petén Vice Minister Elmer Oliva Pacheco.
