Four people remanded to prison for unlicensed firearm despite one of them taking responsibility for it

By Breaking Belize News: Four Ladyville residents have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison in connection with an unlicensed firearm found at a house during a police search, despite one of them claiming the weapon.

On Monday, Shackeem Ferguson, his girlfriend Kelly Sanchez, his sister Shantel Ferguson, and Randolph Mckoy were all arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with kept unlicensed firearm over a .38 pistol.

Mckoy pleaded guilty in court, claiming that the pistol was his; however, the prosecution did not withdraw the charges from the others accused in the event. The prosecutor indicated that he would look at dropping the charges against the other three accused once McKoy has been sentenced.

They were all remanded to prison until May 19.

Police say that they went ot Ferguson’s home on May 5 and saw McKoy walking into the house. Officers say they surrounded the house and moments later they saw a black object being thrown out of a window, which was later discovered to be a firearm.
