By Rubén Morales Iglesias: On Tuesday, May 9, United States Ambassador Michelle Kwan and Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations Anthony Mahler had a productive meeting on the current and future trends of tourism in Belize.
The Minister spoke with the US Ambassador during her visit to the Belize Tourism Board.
The US Embassy said they discussed Belize’s relationship with its diaspora communities residing in the United States, who contribute significantly to the country’s development and cultural diversity.
The BTB said they talked about how to promote sustainable tourism, showcase Belize’s natural beauty and cultural diversity, and attract more visitors from the U.S., which is Belize’s largest market for travel.
“The discussion covered a range of topics including sustainable tourism, Belize’s stunning natural beauty, its vibrant communities, diverse cultures, and the array of adventures, attractions, and activities available to visitors,” the BTB said.
They also discussed Belize’s recovery after the pandemic and future plans for the industry.
Ambassador Kwan was accompanied by Ms. Sydney Skov, Political Officer, and Ms. Carmen Silva, Economic and Commercial Assistant.
Minister Mahler was accompanied by CEO Nicole Solano.
