Belize City man remanded to prison for bullet found in his pants pocket

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison over an ammunition offense.

Delvin Lopez appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, charged with a single count of kept unlicensed ammunition.

Lopez was unsure how to plea, explaining that he didn’t want to waste the court’s time, but in fact, the bullet was not his. Having heard his explanation, the Magistrate entered an equivocal plea of not guilty on his behalf.

Bail could not be granted in the first instance due to the nature of the offense, and he was remanded until July 10.

Reports are that police found one live .9mm round in his pants pocket, during a search on Tuesday, May 9.
