By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Mexico plans to launch a new tool to record information on more than 100,000 missing people this month.
According to Reuters, the registry will serve to gather information from a number of databases covering mass and clandestine graves, arrests, torture crimes, criminal records, fingerprints and genetics.
In 2022, the list of disappeared people was more than 100,000 and is now estimated at more than 112,000.
Several Non-governmental organizations in Mexico have dedicated their efforts in trying to find relatives who have disappeared saying that public offices are ineffective and unresponsive in these cases.
The database is scheduled to be launched on May 29, 2023.
