By Breaking Belize News Staff: Thirty-three-year-old Jared Ranguy, charged with triple murder has a new trial date in the High Court of Belize.
Ranguy appeared in court this week before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft, where the new trial date was set for June 26.
The court ruled that Raguy, who said he has not spoken to his attorney since his last court appearance, will go to trial with or without his attorney from the firm Marine Parade Chambers, the firm founded by Godfrey Smith S.C., and that Simeon Sampson S.C. will be appointed as a backup attorney.
Ranguy’s trial was to commence in April; however he said he was being forced by his attorney to plead guilty, so he demanded a change in legal representation.
Ranguy is accused of killing 3 family members, his mother, his sister, and his stepfather in November 2012 on Marage Road in the Ladyville area. After 9 years on remand, he was granted High Court bail in the sum of $30,000 which he has not been able to post.
