By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Vibrant and innovative Standard 1 teacher at Santa Elena Primary, Tracy Augustine is marking students’ lives with footprints of the love for learning in the hearts of her students.

Dean of the Faculty of Education at Galen University, Dr. Dorian Barrow says that Teacher Tracy is an ambitious, positive and productive young teacher.

“I have found Tracy to be bright, creative, and very highly motivated.  She sets herself realistic goals and works tirelessly to achieve them.  She has excellent leadership, and communication skills and thinks in broad strategic leadership terms when she approaches a management, or leadership task and can work well by himself as well as a member of a team,” Dr. Barrow stated.

“I have found her to be a great student, a great leader, and an excellent manager who reads widely, and has good computer, research and people management skills,” he added.

Vice Principal of Santa Elena Primary, Golda Gomez says that she has known Ms. Tracy as a superb teacher.

“Miss Tracy is not only a strong individual who has come a long way in life but she is also unique and valuable to the Santa Elena Primary School staff and her students. She is a passionate, committed, caring, student-focused, loving and empathetic teacher and individual. She goes over and beyond to ensure that effective teaching and learning takes place in her classroom. Her lessons are well detailed and her execution are over the top. She always ensures that her students are learning, they are her number one priority in and out of the classroom. I encourage Ms. Tracy to continue doing her best. She will be successful in every and anything she accomplishes in life. I, as her vice, is very proud of her,” Gomez expressed.

Tracy has demonstrated her dedication and passion for teaching among her mentors.

“Tracie is a superb teacher.  She has embraced the concept of competence teaching and learning.  She ensures that the students under her care develop critical thinking skills.  When  facilitating learning, she incorporates the Socratic ‘why’ questions to provoke and stimulate deep thinking.  Tracie must be recognized for being an effective and efficient teacher.  I am so proud to have been her coach and witnessed her growth during internship,” Floridalma Molina Zuniga, Head of Department at Sacred Heart College and Adjunct Lecturer and Supervisor at Galen University.

During an interview with BBN, Teacher Tracy noted that it is her belief that all children are capable of learning through motivation and guidance.

“As a teacher, I am aware that we live in a country that is diverse and developing. I am also aware that students have different learning styles and attitudes, different circumstantial experiences and different gifts. With this in mind, it enables me to be able to relate to my students, nurture their strengths, build on their weaknesses and encourage them to excel,” she explained.

“It is my conviction that a great teacher must have powerful faith in the future. Teaching is like planting an oak seedling knowing that I will never see the tree in all its glory, knowing that I may never see the fruits of my labors as a teacher. Nevertheless keeping in mind that the knowledge and skills that I have imparted in my students will last for generations to come. My calling is to plant and nurture seeds that will grow and shape tomorrow and I pledge to continue doing so to the best of my ability,” she added.

Parents also describe Tracy as a committed and motivated educator who strives to bring out the best in her students and who recognizes that each student is unique. She goes way beyond the call of the classroom and works arduously to ensure that every child is included and valued.

BBN joins in wishing Teacher Tracy a Happy Teacher’s Day!
