Woman who allegedly stabbed her lover during domestic dispute out on bail

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 32-year-old Ladyville woman is out on bail after being charged for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to the abdomen during an argument.

Marilyn Roaches appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday charged with a single count of use of deadly means of harm upon 23-year-old Shemmar Bowen.

No plea was taken from her as the matter will be handled in the High Court of Belize on indictment. There was no objection to bail; however the prosecution asked for strict conditions to accompany Roaches’ bail. She was granted bail in the sum of $1,200 plus one surety of the same, which she was able to meet.

Under her bail conditions, Roaches is not allowed to have any contact with Bowen either personally, digitally, or through a third party. She is also to maintain a minimum distance of 100 yards from him until the conclusion of the court case.

The incident happened on the night of May, 8 at the couple’s Ladyville home. The allegedly got into an argument which escalated into Bowen being stabbed once to the abdomen. He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he had to undergo surgery. Reports are that he remains critical at the KHMH even after the surgery.
