International News: Chicago declares State of Emergency amidst migrant surge 

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Last Tuesday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot declared a state of emergency in Chicago due to the significant number of people arriving.

Migrants seeking asylum were reportedly being bused off to larger cities, CBS reports.

According to the Mayor’s office in 2022, the first group of migrants were bused off from Texas to Chicago.

At this time, state officials indicated that the large influx is “exceeding the City’s ability to manage that inflow.”

The Mayor indicated that “sadly”, they don’t expect the buses to stop arriving anytime soon.
