International News: Taiwan grants adoption rights to same-sex couples

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Taiwan granted adoption rights to same-sex couples, CNN reports.

In 2019, Taiwan became the first place in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage but it stopped short of granting fully equal rights of adoption to same-sex couples.

According to the report, before the bill was passed, only heterosexual couples and single people were allowed to adopt children to whom they are not biologically related.

Advocates for LGBT rights in Taiwan have hailed the decision as a milestone and a big step toward achieving full marriage equality.
