By Breaking Belize News Staff: A former employee of Belize Package and Mail Service (BPMS) is out on bail after a cash of over $1,600 that was in his care went missing.

The delivery man, 27-year-old Taryq Phillips was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on a single charge of theft.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense and since there was no objection to bail, it was granted to him in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount, which he met.

Phillips is due back in court on June 29.

Allegations against him are that on May 09, he was given a total of $1,686.75 to deposit at a bank. However, Phillips never returned to work and his employer had not seen him since that day. When the employer made checks, he found that the money had not been deposited, which prompted him to call the police.
