Port Layola stun San Pedro Pirates 2-1 in PLB semifinals 1st leg

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola last, like Progresso, won the first leg of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) semifinals 2-1 upsetting the San Pedro Pirates at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City on Wednesday night.

Latrell Middleton had a superb game scoring both of Port Layola’s goals to give the Belize City side the upper hand in their bid to reach the PLB Finals. Middleton hit first in the 10′ and later in the 55′

Down 2-0, San Pedro rallied and got one back through Trevor Lennan in the 65′ but couldn’t close the gap.

The return is set for Saturday, May 20, at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro.

Progresso beat Verdes 2-1 in the other semifinal in Orange Walk Town.
