Progresso shock Verdes 2-1 in PLB semifinals 1st leg

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Progresso defended the home turf well shocking Verdes 2-1 in the first leg of the Premier League of Belize semifinals.

Playing at home at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk, Progresso scored the game winner during injury time through the efforts of Zamir Bonilla in the 90’+4. Marlon Gutierrez scored their first goal in the 61′.

Darrel Myvett shortened the lead for Verdes in the 83′ but it was a case of a little bit too late.

The return match will be played on Sunday at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio.

Port Layola stunned San Pedro Pirates 2-1 in the other semifinal in Belize City.
