Raheem Reid remanded to prison for allegedly shooting a man and firing at a police officer

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Twenty-nine-year-old Raheem Reid was remanded to the Belize Central Prison this week, after allegedly shooting a man and then shooting after a police officer.

Reid was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on one count of use of deadly means of harm upon Kenroy Elijio and one count of aggravated assault upon the Police Constable Raheem Neal.

Reid pleaded not guilty to both charges but since the alleged offense was reportedly committed with a firearm, bail could not be granted at the Magistrate level. He was remanded until July 17.

Allegations against him are that on Sunday, May 14, he fired shots at a crowd who were socializing on Victoria Street, hitting Elijio. PC Neal, who was in his family yard not far from the incident, responded to the sound of gunfire and that’s when he says he ended up in a shoot out with Reid.
