By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Wednesday, an 8-year-old girl who was in the custody of Border Patrol died.
According to the Los AngelesTimes, U.S. officials say that the child experienced a medical emergency and she was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The child was being kept at a Harlingen station in Texas.
An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
U.S. officials are still struggling to manage the increase in illegal migrant crossings.
Since the expiration of Title 42 last week, border crossings have fallen.
However, just before Title 42 expired, resources were stretched out as the number of people in Border Patrol custody ballooned to more than 28,000 last week, above normal capacity.
