Bandits drop name Internacional, return for next Premier League of Belize season

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “Big, Bad, Belmopan Bandits…the return! Opening Season 2023/24!!! A tradition of winning!” Bandits Sports announced on Facebook on Thursday, May 18.

The Belmopan club will drop the Internacional FC name and will officially start using Bandits Sports again for the 2023-24 Premier League of Belize (PLB) Opening Season.

The Belmopan Bandits sponsorship deal with Mexican club Internacional FC didn’t work out the way it was expected, and the Bandits will return for the 2023-24 Premier of Belize Opening Season. Last February, the Belmopan club announced the partnership with the Mexican club and even proceeded to change its name to Internacional Fútbol Club.

It was obvious that things weren’t working when the team just couldn’t win and more so when they started using the Bandits uniforms again during the 2022-2023 Closing Championship.

The Closing Championship was the worst in Bandits history. So, it’s a welcome announcement to hear that the Bandits are back.
