By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Title 42 restrictions expired on May 11, 2023 and since then, the United States has deported or returned more than 11,000 migrants to Mexico.
According to CBS, after border patrol agents were no longer able to expel migrants under the Title 42, over 11,000 formal deportations have been done.
Just before title 42 expired, migrant crossings surged to 10,000, a record hugh.
However, there is now almost a 70% drop.
Those turned back include migrants from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti and Cuba.
The United States say that the decrease is due to efforts by countries in Latin America to stop migrants from journeying north.
