By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Chocolate Festival of Belize continues today, Saturday, in Santa Cruz in the Toledo District with the Cacao & Culture event which showcases Maya culture.

The organizers say the Cacao and Culture is “a truly remarkable village event offering tour experiences with attractive prices, access to Rio Blanco waterfalls, Uxbenka archaeological site, cultural dance entertainment, a special presentation and an array of booth offerings”.

The organizers say the day is packed with cultural activities featuring the Maya traditional Deer Dance, chocolate demonstrations, and local food. The Cacao & Culture event runs until 4:00 pm.

The final leg is the ‘Celebrate Chocolate’ event – a family friendly chocolate themed evening featuring “Toledo’s diverse cultures through music, food, entertainment, local arts and crafts, games, and of course, lots of Belize chocolate”. This final segment runs from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The Chocolate Festival started on Friday in Mafredi with the Cacao Symposium at the Maya House of Cacao during the day and the Chocolate Gala at the Copal Tree Lodge in the night.

The Chocolate Gala offered chocolate, wine, copalli rum, chocolate stout, and delicious finger foods along with musical entertainment provided by the ever-popular Justin Castillo and Alexander Evans, said the organizers.
