Belize City men remanded to prison for video on social media allegedly promoting gang activity

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Belize City men have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison in connection with a video circulated on social media, which purportedly promotes gang activity.

The men, 19-year-old Markell Mahler and 30 -year-old Nigel Williams, both residents of Fabers Road, appeared in court represented by attorney Ronell Gonzalez charged with being a member of a gang, producing a video recording to promote gang activity, and using a video recording to promote gang activity. No name was given with regard to the gang which they are accused of being affiliated with.

They both pleaded not guilty, but due to the nature of the offense, bail was denied and they were remanded to prison until their next court appearance.
