George Lewis will spend just under three years in prison for firearms offenses

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man will spend just under three years at the Belize Central Prison after a conviction for firearms-related offenses.

Twenty-five-year-old George Lewis was found guilty in the Belize City Magistrate’s court of one count of kept unlicensed firearm and one count of kept unlicensed ammunition.

He was sentenced to two years, and 11 months for the first offense, and for the second offense he was given two years and three months. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning that Lewis will only spend a total of two years and 11 months in prison.

On February 26, 2022, Lewis was found on Custard Apple Street, Belize City, in possession of a .38 revolver containing three live .38 rounds of ammunition.
