Mainland Belize District to also be affected by power outages on “Blackout Sunday”

By Aaron Humes: The Old Capital is currently without power as of 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.

But while works on the City’s electrical installations get underway, most of mainland Belize District will be briefly in outage as well.

Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) has announced planned power outages for portions of the Belize District as follows: two 15 minutes power interruptions between 5:30AM and 7AM and one 15 minutes power interruption from 2:45PM to 3:00PM.

Affected areas: 1) All areas along Mile 1 to Mile 37 Philip Goldson Highway including West Landivar, Coral Grove, Buttonwood Bay, Belama Phases 1,2,3 and 4, Bella Vista, Driftwood Bay, North End Estate, Courteney Estate, Withfield Towers, all of Ladyville, Vista Del Mar, Lord’s Bank, Green Estate, Lake Gardens, Dew Drop Estate, Maxboro, Double Run, Salt Creek, Los Lagos, Sandhill, Maxboro, Gardenia, Biscayne, Crooked Tree, and Rhaburn Ridge; and all communities along the Old Northern Highway including Boston, Rockstone Pond, Lucky Strike, Santana, St. Ann’s, Chicago, Corozalito and Maskall;

2) Areas along George Price Highway from Mile 1 to Mile 25 including Western Paradise, areas along Boom/Hattieville Road Roundabout to Ji Chan including Burrell Boom, Hattieville, Freetown Sibun, Gracie Rock, Butcher Burns, Rockville, Cedar Bank, and Ji Chan; and

3) All areas along the Belize River Valley including Flowers Bank, Scotland Halfmoon, Bermudian Landing, Lemonal, Isabella Bank, Willows Bank, areas along St. Paul’s Bank Road, Big Falls and Rancho Dolores.

BEL is to transfer load between the grid and mobile substation to ensure continuity and reliability of power supply during works on the Belize City power system.
