Malcolm Muschamp beats firearm charge, still on remand for murder of Dorian Tzac

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Malcolm Muschamp, 20, was cleared of a firearm charge in court on Friday after conflicting testimonies from the prosecution’s witnesses, however, he remains on remand on a charge of murder for the 2022 killing of Dorian Tzac.

Muschamp defended himself in court against the firearm charge. The Chief Magistrate found him not guilty after she ruled that the two police witnesses presented conflicting testimonies, causing her to have doubt.

Muschamp was accused of the 2022 murder of Tzac and police claimed they saw him with the allege murder weapon running away. That gun turned out to be an empty, .9mm-75 CZM brand pistol for which Muschamp was charged with kept unlicensed firearm.

The Chief Magistrate, in finding Muschamp not guilty, noted that both police witnesses testified to seeing a man of slim build running away from the scene

however one said he wore a mask over his face while the other said the same man had a hat on his head and that he could see his face clearly and that nothing was obstructing his view of the man’s face.

One officer said when he checked Muschamp he found the defendant with a gun, while the other witness said he saw the witness throw the gun away.

Due to the inconsistencies the Chief Magistrate said she had to acquit Muschamp.

And while Muchamp walked free form a gun charge at the end of his trial, he remains on remand for the charge of murder.
