Belize Boxing Development Council announces the first World Boxing Council championship bout in Belize in June

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Boxing Development Council (BBDC) announced the first international boxing championship card to be held in Belize in June. The BBBD said this WBC world championship card is the first in Belize since 1978.

The card’s main feature will post boxer Eduardo Esquivel, representing Belize, according to the Belize Boxing Development Council, in an exciting 10-round featherweight bout for the World Boxing Council (FECARBOX) Silver Championship at the Belize City Civic Center on June 24.

The Belize Boxing Development Council said that ‘talented, belligerent boxer Eduardo Esquivel’ will take on formidable Mexican opponent Roberto Rodriguez.

“This clash of skill, strength, and determination promises to be a thrilling encounter that captivates boxing enthusiasts nationwide,” the BBDC said.

In a co-feature 10-round fight in the mini flyweight division, former world title challenger Jessica Basulto will face April Sanchez.

“Both are highly skilled fighters, and they will engage in a fierce contest to demonstrate their technical prowess and vie for victory,” the BBDC said.

“Both boxers are ranked in the top ten by the World Boxing Organization.”

The BBDC said the match card will include seven other fights that will serve as a platform for emerging Belizean boxers to make their professional debuts.
