Belize play opening game against Mexico in NORCECA U-21 Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship and Pan American Cup on Tuesday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize National Women’s Volleyball Team will be playing their opening game against hosts Mexico in the NORCECA U-21 Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship and Pan American Cup in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.

The Belize National Team travelled all day by land and air on Sunday to arrive in Nogales, which is near the United States border, by midnight, according to Belize Volleyball Association (BVA) President, Allan Sharp.

The NORCECA U-21 Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship and Pan American Cup runs from Tuesday, May 23 to Sunday, May 28, 2023.

Belize qualified to the regional tournament after finishing second in the AFECAVOL U-21 Central American Volleyball Championship held in Belize in July 2022.

Our young ladies are playing in Group A against Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Cuba.

The opening game tonight against Mexico starts at 8:00 pm (9:00 pm Bze Time). Belize’s second game will be against Cuba on Wednesday, May 24 at 4:00 pm (5:00 pm Bze Time) and the final match will be against Puerto Rico at 2:00 pm (3:00 pm Belize Time) on Thursday, May 25.

Pool B comprises the United States, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala.

Belize will also be represented at the tournament by international referee Khalid Encalada.

The BVA said matches will be streamed live on Belize Volleyball Facebook page.
