Man pleads guilty to violent break-in at ex’s home; sentence to be given on Friday

By Aaron Humes: 21-year-old Michael Jorgenson of Lacroix Boulevard, Belize City, has taken responsibility for allegedly breaking into his former girlfriend’s residence and assaulting her.

Appearing before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson, Jorgenson pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary for the incident which took place on May 4. Jorgenson, carrying a knife, broke in and held his ex by the throat at knifepoint.

Jorgenson will be sentenced on Friday, May 26, and faces a potential sentence of between 10 and 15 years in prison.
