Boston Celtics’ 110-97 victory extends Eastern Conference Finals

By Aaron Humes: Riding a hot start and balanced scoring, the Boston Celtics have further extended the NBA Eastern Conference Finals to a sixth game, winning at home 110-97.

The Celtics came out firing in front of a raucous home crowd, quickly building an 18-5 lead. Though the visiting Miami Heat chipped away at the lead, they got no closer than 10 points late as four Celtics scored at least 20 points each and the team made 16 three-pointers and added 27 points from 16 Miami turnovers.

The Celtics are trying to overturn a three-game deficit for the first time in NBA history in a seven-game series and have managed to force a sixth game for only the second time in such a scenario in team history.

Game six will be played Saturday night and a seventh game if needed on Monday night, the U.S. Memorial Day holiday. The NBA Finals begins for the winners versus Western Conference champions Denver on Thursday.
