By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Health officials in the United States continue to warn against surgeries in Mexico following the death of 2 patients due to suspected cases of meningitis.

According to the Associated Press, officials in the U.S. say that over 200 patients are at risk of fungal meningitis after having surgical procedures at clinics in Mexico.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that it is working with Mexican counterparts to respond to the outbreak among patients who had surgeries in Matamoros, Mexico.

The Mexican Health Ministry provided the U.S. with a list of 221 patients who could be at risk for meningitis.

The CDC is working to contact these patients and urge them to get to their nearest medical facility for testing.
