City Emergency Management Organization prepares for Hurricane Season 2023

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On May 25, 2023, the Belize City Council and the City Emergency Management Organization (CEMO) held a training session to prepare members for the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

The sessions commenced with Basic First Aid Training to equip teams with essential life-saving skills.

The Belize City Council continues to hold CEMO Sub-Committee meetings to assess and improve plans, while also engaging in Training Sessions with Stakeholders to strengthen overall preparedness.

The Belize City Council noted that it continuously updates their Hurricane Plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

“We work towards ensuring a swift and coordinated response in times of crisis and remain committed to working with the private sector, NGO’s, communities and government to enhance our capabilities and strengthen capacity in order to preserve life and protect property,” the Belize City Council noted.
