Taiwan ICDF-funded Aspiring Women Entrepreneurs program concludes

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Taiwan Embassy in Belize announced the culmination of the “Aspiring Women Entrepreneurs (AWE)” program under the Women Empowerment Project.

The project is funded by Taiwan ICDF and facilitated by the Rotary Club of Belize and the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize.

The purpose is to Empower Women Entrepreneurs to their full potential.

The main goal of AWE is to create a lasting impact for women across the country, providing women entrepreneurs with access to the knowledge and skills to develop and expand their business.

Through the designed courses led by professional mentors, all the participants learned how to become more professional and skilled in the areas which could help with their business, such as Branding, Philanthropic Partnership, Product Development and Budgeting.

A total of 24 women participated and 8 competition winners were selected from the group to be awarded with BZD $5,000 as the Angel Fund.

The AWE program had the privilege to equip women entrepreneurs with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance their resilient and confidence in today’s society.

Participants can explore the concept of entrepreneurship, with intentions of developing micro/small business or expanding and promoting their business if they already have one.

“Women who are financially literate are in better positions to invest their time and resources in developing business and MSMEs in Belize, which also helps boost the national economy,” the Taiwan Embassy noted.

The Taiwan Embassy along with Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize pledged to keep working with the Government of Belize and other partners to continuously empower women and enhance the welfare of Belizean people.
