Belizean cyclist Derrick Chavarria places third in Pro 1/2 race in Iowa

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean cyclist Derrick Chavarria captured third place in the Pro/Cat 1/2 Friday Night Fever Twilight Criterium in Burlington in Iowa in the United States on Friday as Americans began celebrating Memorial Day weekend.

Chavarria is studying at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina.

He and several college teammates are participating in the race in Burlington and Davenport this week hosted by Wright Cycles as they participate in non-collegiate races.

Chavarria who left for Lees McRae last year has been settling in well and has been making the podium in a number of races that he has participated in.

Chavarria is riding against today in the Snake Alley Criterium, the main weekend race, in Burlington.
