‘United’ Democratic Party as Patrick Faber re-endorsed for Collet division

By Aaron Humes: A wound opened in January 2022 – and in some respects which has existed since their being jettisoned from Government in November 2020 – has been closed, as Collet area representative Patrick Faber is officially back in the ranks of the United Democratic Party (UDP).

The party lived up to its name today at a National Party Council meeting when it voted unanimously to officially endorse Patrick Faber as Collet Standard Bearer, replacing Ian Jones.

Faber has represented the division since 2003 and was endorsed as Party Leader from it in 2020 before stepping down barely a year or so later over personal issues. During the standard bearer nomination process, he was ruled out because he and the leadership were engaged in a social media spat and there was even a recall attempt of Party Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow which failed at the preliminary stage, but extensive talks between Faber and the Party Leader in the last few months appear to have healed the wounds.

The Party is scheduled to have a National Convention in August.
