Belama man charged with aggravated burglary at boat tour outpost, several others still at large

By Breaking Belize News Staff: One man from a group being sought in connection with a burglary at Chukka’s Airboat Tour Outpost located at Mile 10 on the George Price Highway has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Today, 22-year-old Wilson Barrientos was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court facing one count of burglary and one count of aggravated burglary.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges but since the alleged offense was committed with a firearm, bail could not be granted in the first instance and he was remanded until July 28.

Allegations against him are that he and six others who have yet to be arrested by police entered the compound on the night of Sunday, May 7, held the two security guards at gunpoint, tied them up, and stole $15,733.80, worth of items from the facility, as well as $645 worth of personal items from the guards.
