By Rubén Morales Iglesias: A widespread blackout hit the Cayo, Stann Creek, and Belize Districts, including San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, at about 3:45 pm.
Unlike Friday when it took more that an hour for Belize Electricity Limited to restore power, Monday’s power cut lasted only a few minutes.
BRL clients immediately reported the power outage from communities across the three districts. Though power was restored within minutes, only one user from San Pedro reported that power had been restored.
“UNPLANNED POWER OUTAGE FOR PORTION OF THE COUNRTY OF BELIZE,” BEL reported.
“Our teams are currently investigating the cause of unplanned power outage, currently affecting portion of the country. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding and patience while we work to rectify as soon as possible.”
As we wrote this report, power weakened but didn’t go, but has remained weak.
BEL clients complained about the damage that could be caused to electrical appliances.
