Stann Creek win 2023 FFB U20 Men’s League

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Stann Creek won the 2023 Football Federation of Belize (FFB) U20 Men’s League on Saturday at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan.

Stann Creek beat Belmopan 3-0 in the Final on goals by Leopoldo Vasquez in the 3’, 13’, and 37’.

Vasquez was voted Most Valuable Player, Carlos Palacios was Best Goalkeeper, and Daijon Daniels the Top Scorer.

Cayo won third place as they doubled up on the MidSouth 6-3 in extra time after making a super comeback being down 3-1 in the first half.

Lavaughan Cabral hit a brace for MidSouth in the 6’ and 29’. In between Cayo got one from Alvin Daz in the 14’. But the MidSouth were dominant and took a 3-1 lead when Levan Cabral hit another in the 44’.

Cayo reacted superbly in the second half. Martin Humes got one back in the 49’ to trail 3-2. And when time was running out, Shamar Flowers evened the score in the 88’ at 3-3 forcing extra time.

The additional time was all Cayo with Diaz completing his brace in the 105’. Then, Jermaine Westby in the 113’ and Kevon Guerra in the 114’ secured the bronze medals.
