By Aaron Humes: A collaboration Belize City and Taiwan has resulted in the donation of a fire truck to the National Fire Service.
Mayor Bernard Wagner and Ambassador Lily Hsu paid tribute to the hardworking firefighters of the Fire Service and the continued need to protect property and lives from the threat of fire disasters and attendant risks such as climate change.
Fire Chief Colin Gillett noted that Taiwan has boosted the Service’s fleet by four since his taking over and hailed the cooperation between the City Council and his office.
Not only do fire sirens mean help is on the way, Gillett said, it is the right kind of help with top of the line equipment and a commitment to service.
