Green Climate Fund project pipeline development workshop for coastal zone and fisheries sector held in Dangriga

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Belize’s National Designated Authority (NDA) to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) along with the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation (MBECA) on Tuesday hosted a Green Climate Fund proposal development workshop in Dangriga.

“The objective of this workshop is to develop a project pipeline document and concept note for the coastal zone and fisheries sector of Belize, based on the Coastal Zone and Fisheries Sector Vulnerability and Livelihood Assessment and Adaptation Plan,” MBECA said.

In simple terms, a project pipeline is a visual representation of all the stages a project goes through from start to finish. The project pipeline serves as a project tracker through which managers can understand the individual stages of projects.

The project is aligned with Belize’s Country Programme for engagement with the GCF, which is a fund established within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to assist developing countries in adaptation and mitigation practices to counter climate change.

The workshop also included private sector specific activities and a capacity-building session on GCF proposal development.

The workshop was attended by members of the Dangriga Town Council, including Mayor Robert Mariano.
