By Breaking Belize News Staff: On Monday, 24-year-old Clint Geban, who was on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being charged with gang affiliation, was convicted of a single count of damage to property.

Geban appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Khiana Gordon, accused of damaging a plywood divider belonging to the Government of Belize which was valued at $400.

Geban pleaded guilty to the offense, explaining that he was frustrated because he had not seen his children for an extended period of time and begged the court for a fine so he could be able to see them.

He was fined $800 plus $5 cost of court which he must pay by July 28 or he will spend four months in prison for defaulting.

Geban damaged the divider at his arraignment for his gang affiliation charge on Thursday, May 25, when he learned he was denied bail and would be remanded.
