Belize Weather: Dangerous daytime heat gives way to potentially stormy night

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Hot and mostly dry conditions continue, according to the National Meteorological Service. The 24-hour forecast is for mostly sunny skies today with isolated showers or thunderstorms developing over inland areas. Skies will be cloudy at times tonight with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms over some inland and northern areas, with isolated activity elsewhere.

High temperatures reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 103 degrees in inland areas, and 86 degrees in the hills. Tonight, temperatures fall to 81 degrees along the coast, 73 degrees inland and 68 degrees in the hills. A heat alert is in effect. Residents, especially in inland areas, are advised to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activity as much as possible, especially during the afternoon hours. Tonight, a strong thunderstorm watch is in effect for the possibility that thunderstorms may become severe, producing strong damaging winds, heavy rainfall and possible hail.

Winds are easterly to southeasterly at five to 15 knots, and sea state is running light chop.

Tides will be high at 7:22 this morning and 8:58 this evening and low at 2:44 this afternoon. The sun sets at 6:23 this evening, rising at 5:17 on Friday morning.

Similar weather conditions are expected for Friday and Friday night.
